Simon has a strong record in qual for public and third sector clients, both in the UK and internationally. A former qual research director at Ipsos MORI, he has worked for overseas governments and prestigious international NGOs as well as major UK institutions and charities, on themes as diverse as adult literacy, national identity among minority ethnic groups, the use of emblems in the Middle East, high speed rail, attitudes to gender in the Armed Forces and charity brand communications.

There are many overlaps between commercial qual research and qual research for public bodies, but there are also important practical differences in what is required of the researcher. An Oxford law graduate, Simon can turn his hand to the more formal, forensic analysis and writing style needed on complex and large public sector studies. He writes Word reports to publishable standard as well as being skilled in putting together sharp, stimulating presentations. He is comfortable with the scrutiny that public sector research naturally faces and is used to explaining qualitative methods in robust terms for public sector clients.

“I hired Simon on behalf of an international NGO for which my firm  was providing opinion research services. Simon was extremely pleasant to work with – reliable, communicative, highly professional and a top practitioner in his field. Simon delivered on time and with very good quality in both the management of his work and the findings of the research that he conducted. And he made me look great – what more can I ask for?”
